Museums Advisory

Museums Advisory is a specialist service tailored to the needs of new and developing museums, providing a full range of consultancy focused on internal and external communications. We undertake large-scale projects that are developing, redeveloping or expanding, working in partnership with trusted international affiliates to ensure that museum developments reach their most transformational effect globally.

PROJECTS

CHAT (Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textile) is Hong Kong's textile heritage museum located in The Mills, the former cotton-spinning mills of Nan Fung Textiles in Tsuen Wan. Opened in March 2019, CHAT offers new knowledge while nurturing ideas and talents through exhibitions, workshops and community programmes, with a commitment to preserving local tangible and intangible textile heritage. CdD was a long-term consultant to CHAT, building and strengthening the institution's brand positioning and public awareness through strategic communication campaigns locally and globally. Stephanie continues to support CHAT as an Advisory Committee member.

The Art Gallery of New South Wales is one of Australia’s flagship art museums and the state’s leading visual arts institution. In 2021, the Museum celebrated its 150th anniversary, and on 3 December 2022, AGNSW completed its significant expansion through the Sydney Modern Project, with a new building designed by SANAA, headed by Pritzker-prize-winning architects Kazuyo Sjima and Ryue Nishizawa. CdD supported the AGNSW for three years in its strategic pre-launch campaign, working as part of a global Museums Advisory group as an Asian representative to implement strategic communications, media roadshows, digital advisory, and creative partnerships.

M+, Hong Kong's global museum of visual culture, is a museum dedicated to collecting, exhibiting, and interpreting visual art, design and architecture, moving image, and Hong Kong visual culture of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. In Hong Kong’s West Kowloon Cultural District, it is one of the largest museums of modern and contemporary visual culture in the world, with a bold ambition to establish itself as one of the world’s leading cultural institutions. CdD worked as part of a global Museums Advisory group on the Museum's pre-launch communications campaign, including advocacy support, media outreach and localisation, video production and continues to advise on regional communication opportunities.

Established in 2015, UOB Art Academy (a registered charity) is dedicated to connecting communities and touching hearts through art. With a focus on Chinese ink art, the Academy seeks to make art more accessible to the public, to inspire and nurture artistic minds and create learning opportunities for less privileged individuals. As a long-standing consultant to the UOB Art Academy, CdD worked closely to conceive of the UOB Art in Ink Awards, now in its eighth year, recently expanding its presence into an Art in Ink Festival jointly presented by the Hong Kong Palace Museum. We also support UOB in identifying and commissioning artists for Art Central in Hong Kong, a partnership we helped to secure.

UBS has a history of supporting cultural endeavors across the world and continues to use contemporary art to bring together ideas, inspiration, and opinion to shape richer lives. The UBS Art Collection is also considered one of the largest and most important corporate collections of contemporary art in the world. CdD has a long-standing relationship with UBS and supports the firm's myriad art sponsorship activities, including Art Basel, Taipei Dangdai, West Bund Art & Design, as well as the Art Basel and UBS Global Art Market Report. Our consultancy spans idea generation, sponsorship opportunities, on-and-offline content generation, programming design, and strategic communications among others.

The Prix Pictet aims to harness the power of photography – all genres of photography – to draw global attention to issues of sustainability, especially those concerning the environment. Founded in 2008 by the Pictet Group, the Prix Pictet has become the world’s leading award for photography and sustainability. To date, there have been ten cycles of the award each of which has highlighted a particular facet of sustainability. CdD supports the Prix Pictet as its Asia advisory, providing touring exhibition guidance, strategic communications, as well as digital advisory and content implementation for WeChat and RED.

La Prairie has been intrinsically linked to the world of art since its inception, finding inspiration in the contemporary aesthetic codes that have fuelled the creative approach of the House to date. In its tireless pursuit of timeless beauty, La Prairie continues to remain faithful to its origins and creates new connections with the art world, whether cultural institutions, established artists or emerging talents. As a partner of Art Basel, CdD supports the brand in identifying and commissioning artists for the Fair period in Hong Kong, providing local insights, venue support, concept development, artist engagement and management, and VIP event programming among others.

FENIX, a major new museum inspired by stories of global migration, will open on a landmark site in Rotterdam’s City Harbour in 2025. The 16,000 sqm building, dating from 1923, was once part of the largest warehouse in the world. The warehouse served as an important building for storage and shipping for the Holland-America Line, which facilitated the journeys of millions of migrants in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is being transformed in a radical design by Ma Yansong of MAD Architects, through an architectural masterpiece, the Tornado, an organic, dynamic structure evocative of rising air that climbs from the ground floor and flows up and out of the rooftop onto a platform hovering above the city – an uplifting symbol for the journeys experienced by migrants globally. CdD is supporting the global launch campaign for FENIX.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER

CdD was founded by Stephanie Poon, a seasoned cultural professional with extensive experience in strategic planning, direction and idea generation. Stephanie brings with her 15+ years of agency and advisory experience, having worked on a wide range of landmark capital projects worldwide including Centre for Heritage, Arts & Textiles and the West Kowloon Cultural District in Hong Kong, Sydney Modern Project in Sydney, Humboldt Forum in Berlin, FENIX in Rotterdam, corporate projects such as the Pictet Group and its Prix Pictet, UBS and UOB; as well as luxury lifestyle brands such as Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Cartier and La Prairie.

Stephanie currently sits on the Advisory Council of Design Trust, the Advisory Committee of MILL6's Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textiles, member of the Board of Governors of the Hong Kong Arts Centre, the Hongkong Post Stamp Advisory Committee, the Business Development Committee of Hong Chi Association, and serves as a Board Member of Ocean Park Corporation, chairing its Conservations and Education sub-committee.

Holding a double Masters from the University of Cambridge and Sotheby's Institute of Art, Stephanie is an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Hong Kong, teaching Master of Arts in Creative Communications.
